Frequently Asked Questions

The most common questions about how Solarmonit works, what it supports and how it protects your data. If you can't find what you're looking for, reach us through the Support page.

General

What is Solarmonit?

Solarmonit is a cloud-based platform that lets you monitor multiple solar power plants on a single dashboard, regardless of inverter brand or location. It tracks production in real time, detects faults early and notifies you.

Which inverter brands are supported?

Huawei FusionSolar, Deye / Solarman, SolarEdge, Sungrow, Growatt, GoodWe, SMA, Solis and Fronius manufacturer clouds are supported. A brand not on the list can be added to our integration roadmap; write to us.

Do I need to install any hardware?

No. Solarmonit reads the data your inverter manufacturer already collects through its cloud API, so there is no data logger, RS485 wiring or site visit. The exception is legacy inverters with no internet connection; see the next question.

My inverters are old and not connected to the internet. Can I still use Solarmonit?

Yes. The SolarMonit Box connects to legacy inverters on site and sends their measurements to the platform, so plants without a manufacturer cloud can be monitored on the same dashboard. Ask us for a suitability check for your inverter model.

Getting started

How do I get an account?

Accounts are created by Solarmonit for the users your company names; there is no public sign-up form. Start with a free demo request and we set up your users after the plants are connected.

How is a plant connected and how long does it take?

You share the API credentials of your manufacturer cloud account. Solarmonit discovers the plants in that account and imports them automatically; the first connection typically takes about five minutes.

Is there a free trial?

Yes, the demo is free and there is no credit card or commitment. Demo requests are answered within the same business day.

Features

How does string-level fault detection work?

Solarmonit compares neighbouring strings of the same inverter with each other. A string that produces noticeably less than its siblings is flagged automatically, so small faults that are hard to spot in total production are caught early.

What is the soiling estimate?

Using weather data and the expected yield of the plant, Solarmonit distinguishes soiling from other losses and tells you when cleaning is actually worth it. Soiling can reduce output by up to 70% and shorten panel life, so timing the cleaning right matters.

What is PTF automation?

For plants that have completed their ten-year feed-in period, Solarmonit uses the hourly market clearing price (PTF) published by EPİAŞ to switch production on or off at the right hours, so the hourly netting works in your favour and revenue is maximised.

Does Solarmonit forecast production for the day-ahead market?

Yes. Solarmonit produces a day-ahead production forecast for each plant and learns from every forecast-versus-actual comparison, so the forecasts get closer to real production over time.

How am I notified of a fault?

By e-mail, in-app push notification and, if you enable it, SMS. Each user manages their own channels and phone number on the Notifications page of the web app.

Data & security

Where is my data stored?

On Amazon Web Services in the EU (Ireland) region. User identities are held in a dedicated identity service and are not mixed with plant data. Details are in the Privacy Notice (KVKK).

Can Solarmonit change settings on my inverters?

Standard monitoring is read-only: Solarmonit only reads data from the manufacturer cloud. Switching for PTF automation is done only through SolarMonit Box devices installed and authorised by you.

Who can see my plants?

Only the users your company has authorised for those plants. Solarmonit does not share, sell or use your data for advertising.

How do I delete my account?

E-mail us from your registered address; the account and personal data are deleted within 30 days at the latest. See Support.
